The first step in prelanning services to it recieve information from the funeral home of your choice, and consider the many options facing you and your family. The biggest choice for most families is that between cremation and burial, and the pros and cons of each. Most people then spend time considering the services surrouding the burial or cremation; i.e. having a vistiation, how long for the visitation, will there be an actual funeral service, and will that be in a church, the funeral home, or a completely different location?
No matter what type of funeral and memorialization you and your family are interested in pursuing, having an opportunity to ask questions of the funeral home BEFORE you need their services can be not only very educational, but can help calm many fears and concerns you have regarding the enitre process of what to do when a death occurs.
There are also several different ways to prepay for services at the funeral home, if you so wish. Payments can be made all in one lump sum, or payment plans of 1, 3, and 5 years are available. With a lump-sum payment, there is often a discount given to the total price of the services.
